Formerly a Texaco station and a popular gathering place for conversation and a cold drink, the building is now the home of Drum Inlet Marina. I was driving back to Durham at dusk one evening and saw the lights on in the store. The reflections were flowing out of the windows lighting the ground and even the air around them; you could almost feel the light. It had a gossamer, otherworldly quality. I had no time to stop but the glow of the store in the darkening evening sky called me back the next week, beaconing me to capture and to share.
